Wi-Fi QR Code Generator

Let guests join your Wi-Fi with one scan instead of typing a long password. Enter your network name and password, then print the code for your home, office, café or rental.

Exactly as it appears in the Wi-Fi list — it is case-sensitive.

Stays on your device. Error correction switches to High so the code still scans.

Keep at least 2–4 so scanners can find the edges.

Before you print

  • Test it with at least two phones (iPhone camera and an Android phone).
  • Size: at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide; add 1 cm for every 10 cm of scanning distance.
  • Contrast: dark code on a light background, with a clear border around it.
  • Format: use SVG for print and signs — it stays sharp at any size.

How a Wi-Fi QR code works

The code stores your network details in a standard format that phone cameras recognise:

WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:Password;;

T is the security type, S the network name (SSID) and P the password. When someone scans it, their phone offers to join the network automatically. Special characters such as semicolons in your password are escaped for you.

Step by step

  1. Type the network name exactly as it appears in the Wi-Fi list — capital letters matter.
  2. Enter the password and pick the security type (WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for most routers).
  3. Scan the preview with your own phone to check that it connects.
  4. Download the code and print it, or show it on a screen for visitors.

Ideas for using a Wi-Fi QR code

  • Home: a small card on the fridge or in the guest room.
  • Holiday rentals and hotels: include it in the welcome guide.
  • Cafés and restaurants: print it on table tents or the menu.
  • Offices and co-working: put it at reception for visitors.
  • Events: show it on the entrance sign or a slide.

Keep your network safe

Anyone who can see the code can read your password. For public places, create a separate guest network on your router and share that one instead of your main network. Many routers let you isolate guest devices from your computers and printers.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Wi-Fi QR code work on iPhone?

Yes. On iPhone and iPad with iOS 11 or later, open the Camera app and point it at the code. A “Join network” notification appears; tap it and the device connects without typing the password.

Does it work on Android?

Yes. Android 10 and later can scan Wi-Fi codes with the built-in camera or Google Lens. On many phones you can also open Settings → Wi-Fi and tap the QR icon next to “Add network”.

What happens if I change my Wi-Fi password?

The old code stops working, because the password is stored inside it. Create a new code with the new password and replace the printed one.

Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?

No. The code is created in your browser and the password never leaves your device. Keep in mind that anyone who scans the printed code can read the password, so place it where only guests you trust can see it.

Which security type should I choose?

Choose “WPA / WPA2 / WPA3” for almost every modern router. Pick WEP only for very old equipment, and “No password” for open networks such as public hotspots.
