How to make a QR code
- Choose the type above — a website link, Wi-Fi network, contact card, WhatsApp chat and more.
- Enter your content. The preview updates instantly as you type.
- Customize the design: colors, dot style and an optional logo in the center.
- Test and download. Scan the preview with your phone, then save it as PNG or SVG.
Static QR codes that never stop working
Many “free” QR code websites create dynamic codes: the code points to their own server, which then redirects to your link. After a trial period the redirect stops unless you pay, and every printed flyer, menu or business card suddenly leads to an error page.
Qrly only makes static codes. Your link is written directly into the black and white pattern, so there is nothing to expire, no subscription and no middleman between your customers and your website.
Where QR codes work well
- Restaurants and cafés — link to the menu, ordering page or review profile.
- Print marketing — flyers, posters and packaging that lead to a landing page.
- Events — tickets, schedules, registration forms and feedback surveys.
- Retail — product manuals, warranty registration and how-to videos.
- Business cards — your website, portfolio or a contact card.
- Home and office — share Wi-Fi access without spelling out the password.
Tips for QR codes that scan every time
- Keep the link short. Fewer characters make a simpler pattern that scans faster from further away.
- Use strong contrast: a dark code on a light background. Inverted or pastel codes fail on many phones.
- Leave a border (the “quiet zone”) of empty space around the code.
- Print it large enough — about 1/10 of the distance people will scan from.
- Add a call to action next to the code, such as “Scan to see the menu”.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. You can create, customize and download as many QR codes as you like, including high-resolution PNG and SVG files for print. There is no account, no trial period and no watermark. The site is funded by advertising.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. These are static QR codes: the link is stored inside the pattern itself, not on our servers. The code keeps working for as long as the link it points to works — even if this website disappeared.
Can I change the link after printing?
Not inside a static code. A practical tip: point the code to a page you control, such as a page on your own website, and change what that page shows instead. Services that let you “edit” a printed code do it by redirecting through their servers, usually for a monthly fee.
Can I track how many people scan my code?
Static codes have no built-in tracking. If you use web analytics, add campaign parameters to your link — for example ?utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=qr — and the visits will show up in your analytics tool.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG is best for websites, documents and social media. SVG is a vector file that stays perfectly sharp at any size, so it is the right choice for print, packaging, signs and anything a designer will work with.
Is my data safe?
