Stays on your device. Error correction switches to High so the code still scans.

Keep at least 2–4 so scanners can find the edges.

Before you print

  • Test it with at least two phones (iPhone camera and an Android phone).
  • Size: at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide; add 1 cm for every 10 cm of scanning distance.
  • Contrast: dark code on a light background, with a clear border around it.
  • Format: use SVG for print and signs — it stays sharp at any size.

How to create a contact QR code

  1. Fill in the details you want to share. Only a name or company is required.
  2. Add the address and a note only if you need them — fewer fields make a simpler code.
  3. Scan the preview: your phone should show a “Create contact” or “Add to contacts” screen.
  4. Download as SVG for your printer or designer, or PNG for digital use.

Tips for business cards

  • Size: print the code at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 × 0.8 in). A contact card holds more data than a link, so do not go smaller.
  • Use international phone numbers (for example +44 20 7946 0958) so they work from abroad.
  • Leave white space around the code; do not place it on a busy background.
  • Add a short label such as “Scan to save my contact”.

vCard or a link to your profile?

A vCard code works offline and saves your details in one tap, but cannot be changed after printing. A URL QR code pointing to your website or a profile page can show more (photo, portfolio, social links) and you can update that page at any time. Many people print the vCard code on business cards and use a link code on posters and slides.

Frequently asked questions

What is a vCard QR code?

It is a QR code that contains a contact card in the vCard format. When someone scans it, their phone offers to save your name, phone numbers, email, company and website directly to their contacts — no typing needed.

Can I add a photo to the contact?

A photo is far too large to fit inside a QR code, so it is not included. Your contact will be saved with all the text details; people can add your photo themselves, or you can link to a profile page that shows it.

How do I update my details later?

The details are stored inside the code, so a new phone number or job title means creating a new code. If your details change often, consider a URL QR code pointing to a profile page you can edit at any time.

Which phones support vCard QR codes?

Both iPhone (Camera app) and Android (camera or Google Lens) recognise vCard 3.0, the version this generator creates. It is also understood by Outlook, Gmail contacts and most CRM tools.
