How it works
The code contains a standard mailto: link, such as
mailto:hello@example.com?subject=Order. Every phone knows how to open it in the mail
app, so it works on iPhone and Android without any extra app.
Good uses for an email QR code
- Customer support: a code on the product or manual with the subject “Support request”.
- Feedback: on receipts or tables — “Tell us how we did”.
- Orders and quotes: on flyers with a message template to complete.
- Events: RSVP or join a mailing list with one scan.
Tips
- Use a clear subject so you can filter these emails in your inbox.
- Keep the message short; long text makes a denser code.
- Scan the preview with your phone to check the draft looks right before printing.
Frequently asked questions
Which email app opens when the code is scanned?
The phone’s default mail app — for example Mail on iPhone or Gmail on most Android phones. The recipient, subject and message are filled in, and the person only needs to tap send.
Is the email sent automatically?
No. Scanning only opens a draft. The person can read and edit it before sending, so they stay in control.
Will my email address be visible?
Yes. Anyone who scans the code can see the address, just as with an address printed on paper. Use a shared inbox such as support@ or orders@ for public posters.
Can I add CC or BCC recipients?
Most mail apps support them, but they make the code larger and some apps ignore them. For reliability this generator includes recipient, subject and message only.
